Mrs. Evelyn Rotich, Uasin Gishu’s Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services on Tuesday called for full implementation of the memorandum of understating between Uasin Gishu County administration and Moi Teaching & Referral Hospital (MTRH).
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the health facility, Mrs. Rotich pointed out that more investment should be placed in primary health care in order to reduce chronic illnesses such as cancer and further devolve specialized services to the local facilities.
The CECM had earlier disclosed that her department will continue partnering with the North rift’s top referall facility in providing quality healthcare services in the county.
“We are doing all we can to educate our people on the need to register with NHIF…. by saving as little as Ksh. 16 per day to get the cover,”. Mrs. Rotich stated.
She also said her department would continue sensitizing the residents to register with The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to cushion them from high medical bills.
Appreciating the county government’s support, The Hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson Aruasa said the conducive working relationship was for the good of the citizens.
The CEO added that the hospital is working to ensure Uasin Gishu and North Rift region becomes a disease free zone.
On its part, the county assembly of Uasin Gishu through its committee on Health assured the hospital of support to have it fully discharge their mandate.
Hon Hosea, the Health committee chairman stated they would go out of their way to have the facility acquire more ICU beds from the current 20 beds.
